Brownfield Land
The majority of the development subject of the application is on what is termed ‘brownfield land’. This is land on which development has previously taken place, and which has become redundant or is available for re-development purposes. It is Scottish Executive Policy that development should be directed, in the first place, to ‘brownfield land’ sites, in order to reduce pressure for development on ‘greenfield’ land. In most cases, the the re-development of ‘brownfield land’ results in a net environmental benefit for the area, and this will certainly be the case at Grange Park.
